Dr. Eric Capaci at Champion Christian College in Hot Springs, AR

With a heart for students and a passion for Christ, Dr. Eric Capaci has been the president of Champion Christian College since 2013. He brings an extensive educational background to this position, holding four degrees: a bachelor’s degree in pastoral theology (Hyles-Anderson College, 1988); a master’s degree in education (Hyles-Anderson College, 1992); an honorary doctor of divinity degree (Hyles-Anderson College & Oklahoma Baptist College, 1999); and a master’s degree in pastoral counseling (Liberty University, 2014).

Beyond his educational pursuits, Dr. Capaci has robust practical experience. Having been ordained to the gospel ministry in 1990, Dr. Capaci served for two years as the youth pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Canoga Park, California, before establishing Gospel Light Baptist Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where he has served as pastor for three decades. He is also a well-known speaker throughout the United States and abroad as well as the author of eight books (A Powerful Program Makes a Difference, The Right Start, Through Mountains and Valleys, Recharge Your Bus Route, One Touched Life, Get Your Game Face On, Traits of a Champion, and Sermon Sentences).

However, far more impressive than his education or accomplishments is Dr. Capaci’s heart for family and for ministry. He has been married for thirty-three years to his wife, Carolann, whom he met in seminary. They have five children: Matthias (married to Susanna), Josiah (married to Tiffany), Ezekiel, Chloe, and Gloryann. They are also blessed with six grandchildren: Alayna (Layni); Matthias, Jr., (MJ); Kenneth (KJ); Bentley; Juliet; and Kimber. Dr. Capaci also considers the students, staff, and faculty at Champion Christian College to be his family and finds great joy in building relationships. In fact, Dr. Capaci often interacts with Champion students in the hallways and even invites them over to his house, ensuring that each student feels welcomed to a “home away from home.”

President Capaci’s vision for Champion is simple but profound: “that every student who attends Champion Christian College would come to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and that they would grow in their faith.” It is his prayer that the truths taught at Champion would bring forth spiritual fruit in the lives of alumni and those they impact for years to come. He also has a heart to see Champion become an epicenter of church growth as students experience the power of the local church and are then called by God to go forth as church planters and pastors. Dr. Capaci is humbled and grateful to serve the Kingdom of God in this way and looks forward to the continued growth of Champion Christian College in the years to come.
