Champion Christian College is excited to introduce the Great Writings Honors Program, a transformative educational initiative designed for students who aspire to lead and impact the world for Christ. Rooted in the rich literary traditions of Western civilization, this program immerses students in the foundational works of philosophy, theology, and government, all from a biblical perspective. Through Socratic dialogue, intensive reading, writing, and fellowship, participants will engage with the Bible and other seminal texts of the Hebrew-Greek-Latin and Renaissance-Reformation-Modern eras. This unique, cohort experience not only develops virtuous and truth-seeking scholars but also equips graduates to become profound Christian leaders in their fields. By embracing this tradition in the heart of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Champion joins a national effort to renew more classical modes of education while fostering a vibrant intellectual and spiritual community.

About the Honors Program

Program's General Overview

The Great Writings Honors Program Requirements:
- 18 hours nested within the basic Bachelor's degree requirements (in line with a minor). These 18 hours are to be taken in 6 consecutive semesters over three academic years. Each semester, students in the program take the Great Writings Fall Seminar and the Great Writings Spring Seminar. Each year emphasizes the Bible, the Great Books of the Western intellectual tradition, and the Founding Documents and Speeches of the United States in rotating sequence.
- In addition to the six courses, each honors student will live with the other honors students and, as part of the program, must complete one academic service experience (i.e., work as a teaching or research assistant) in their junior or senior year and one "Capstone Project" presented in their junior or senior year.
The program will guide students through a selection of foundational writings chosen from a select list of Hebrew - Greek - Latin writings in the fall semester and the Renaissance - Reformation - Modern writings in the spring semester.
Students will be visited by special speakers and travel to visit special domestic places and persons of interest to the program objectives.

Entry Requirements

The Great Writings Honors Program Entry Requirements:
- Completion of the Champion Honors Program Application, including a writing sample.
- Minimum High School GPA 3.0/4.0 or ACT equivalent of 22 or higher.
- Two written references (i.e., character and academic reference), one from one high school/college teacher and one from a church pastor.
- A Zoom interview with Champion's Honors Program Director.
