Fading flowers, colder temperatures, and waning daylight—it’s not hard to see why autumn is often considered a subdued or even downright depressing time of year. However, at Champion Christian College, this season is anything but melancholy. With Thanksgiving and the holiday season right around the corner, we’re reflecting on the outreach opportunities and fun student activities we’ve enjoyed this fall!
FIELDS OF FAITH
On October 9, Champion had the privilege of participating in Fields of Faith. Spearheaded by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), this is truly an incredible event with one amazing goal: to shine the hope of the gospel on the next generation of rising leaders. Over two thousand high school students congregated on a local football field for the event, whose itinerary included enthusiastic worship music, powerful testimonies from high school students, and a gospel presentation by an FCA pastor. In addition, free pizza and refreshments were available. Several of our Champion students were in attendance to raise awareness for the college, operating a table that offered spirit banners, pamphlets, and other materials to high schoolers who are prayerfully considering their next educational step. We are so honored to be affiliated with FCA as they use the avenue of sports and recreation to reach young people with the gospel of Jesus and transform lives in the process!
FESTIVE FUN
What’s autumn without fall festivities? During the month of October, our students had plenty of opportunities to celebrate the season, from losing themselves in a corn maze, to toasting marshmallows around a bonfire, to enjoying a costume party at the house of one of our staff members! The fun culminated with the trunk-or-treat hosted by Gospel Light Baptist Church. Staff and students alike donned creative costumes, decorated festive trunks, and shared far too much candy!
SPIRIT WEEK
There’s no doubt that our Champion students know how to show their spirit! This fall’s Spirit Week was a blast as our students celebrated themed days such as Pajama Day, Throwback Thursday, and Dress to Impress Wednesday. Students also had the chance to earn points for their class by competing in games and searching for the famous Champion Spirit Gnome. The week culminated with Fanatic Friday in honor of our Champion Tigers—a pep rally replaced regular chapel services that day, and later, our students cheered the Tigers on to victory against the Baptist Bible College Patriots in a rousing home game!
There’s no doubt it’s been an autumn to remember—and we’re still gaining momentum! Stay tuned for our exciting holiday updates!
